This aircraft served during the legendary Aleutian Islands Campaign, often called "The Forgotten War."

Few Americans realize that during World War II, Japanese forces occupied American soil on the Aleutian Islands of Attu and Kiska in Alaska. For more than a year, the Japanese flag flew over United States territory while American servicemen battled not only the enemy—but some of the harshest weather on Earth.

The Aleutian Campaign became one of the most difficult military operations in American history.

🚢 Hundreds of tons of supplies had to be delivered every month to support American forces in one of the world's most remote and unforgiving locations.

While legendary fighters like the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk, P-38 Lightning, and B-24 Liberator battled the Japanese, dependable support aircraft like this C-45 Expeditor played a critical role transporting personnel, equipment, communications, and supplies throughout the theater. Every mission helped keep Allied operations moving during one of the most demanding campaigns of the war.
